WTAABSE Officers

Mrs. Love-Jackson is a secondary U.S. History teacher of 28 years for Ector County ISD, having served in multiple capacities and committees at Permian High School, including Dual Credit adjunct professor, former chair of the Social Studies department, Permian leadership team, teacher mentor, Mojo-motivational Team, etc. In addition to work as an instructor in ECISD, she is an adjunct professor at Odessa College.

This native Odessan graduated from Permian High School in 1990, attended Odessa College for two years and then transferred to Texas Tech University of Lubbock, Texas where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history, minor in math.  After a few years of teaching, and much prayer, support and understanding Angela decided to continue her education.  By completing her thesis in May 2004, she earned a Master of Arts degree in History from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. In August 2005 she enrolled and made steps towards the second half of the dream, the doctorial. She returned to Texas Tech University in pursuit of a Ph, D. in education with emphasis in curriculum and instruction completing all course work but dissertation, abd. In the fall of 2021, she continued her doctoral journey and enrolled in Alverno College, and is on track, with sincere prayers, to complete her doctorate December 2023 in educational leadership.

Professionally Mrs. Love-Jackson is a member of the Texas Alliance of Black School Educators (TABSE).  She is a proud chartering and founding member of the West Texas chapter of TABSE (WTAASBE) and serves as an officer in the position of President-Elect. Additionally, she is affiliated with Texas State Teachers Association and National Educators Association. She has been awarded membership to Who’s Who Among American Teachers.  Angela has received various educational and community recognitions such as the Midland/Odessa Alumni Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha – Eta Upsilon Theta Woman of the Year; Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. – Odessa Alumnae Chapter, honored her for services to the community; the Odessa American Newspaper chose her as educator of the week. In the past, graduating senior and junior classes of Permian High School have chosen her as Social Studies teacher of the year, and administration and staff of PHS chose her as Master Teacher of the Year.

Her time is not only spent in classrooms.  Angela is the loving wife of Mr. Vincent Jackson and the proud mother of her son Christian, daughters Jazayah and Daisharay.  In addition, she is the Ahmi, “beloved grandmother”, of Kyrie and Layla with “Lo”, little one on the way. Additionally, she has numerous others that call her Mom. She is a member and serves as the minister of music for St. Matthew Baptist Church and shares the musician duties of Mackey Chapel AME with her mother, Laverne Love. In addition, she is the current Vice-president of the local chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Rho Iota Omega.  Along with involvement in other church activities and community groups, such as the Black Cultural Council of Odessa community choir, Angela’s hobbies include listening to music, playing the piano, singing, reading, surfing the Internet, watching TV, playing cards or board games, enjoying good company with stimulating conversation on a variety of topics, watching movies, and sleeping whenever the opportunity is available.

From birth, the value of a good education was taught by example to Angela and her brother by her parents. Her father George was a math teacher and her mother Laverne served as educators in the classroom and beyond for over 35 years each.  Not only did she follow in their footsteps, so did her brother, George Love, Jr. who serves as a principal in Lubbock ISD and is a member of the state and local chapter of TASBE.  It is Angela’s desire and goals to build a legacy of equity for all students in the West Texas educational arena, and feels membership in this organization will catapult that dream to fruition.
